How to make a Espresso Martini

This is one of my favourite cocktails (who might have thought of that from a coffee enthusiast). It works as a nice cocktail at a bar, or at nice restaurants to have it with the dessert - Tiramisu and espresso martini are the best combination.

Ingredients

This cocktail doesn't need a lot of ingredients and still tastes delicious:

  • Ice cubes
  • 2 parts Vodka
  • 1 part Kahlúa
  • 1 part Espresso
  • espresso beans for decoration

Together with this, you also need a bit of equipment

  • cocktail shaker
  • cocktail strainer
  • jigger
  • coupe glass

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with the ice cubes.
  2. Add the vodka, kahlúa, and espresso. One part is usually 25ml and usually the smaller side of a jigger, 2 parts (50ml) is the larger side. So there is not a lot to remember here.
  3. Shake well to get the foam on top
  4. Strain it into a coupe glass. You can also use a regular martini glass for this.
  5. Garnish by placing three coffee beans on top.

Substitues and alternatives

Kahlua is a liquor from Mexico that has a strong coffee flavour. The best substitute for Kahlua is finding an alternative brand of coffee liquor.

If you are not a big fan of vodka, you can also try out a espresso martini using bourbon. It will taste a little stronger and smoky but is still a really good alternative.
